How Can We Help?

What is your new patient procedure?

Patient will come in and fill out all necessary paperwork and provide insurance information if applicable. Patient will then be taken through a thorough history and exam. it will then be determined if patient needs imaging. If so they will be sent to Helen Joy here in Newberry just up the block with a specific order as to what is needed. After all this information has been compiled we will begin with Adjustments to correct the issue at hand.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

Some Insurance policies do require referrals but not all. Please let us know what your policy is and we can find out that information for you.

What types of health insurance do you accept?

We accept many of the major insurers that are commonly used. If we do not accept your insurance we can prepare a claim form for you to submit to your insurer to be reimbursed for your out of pocket payment. This only applies if you have purchased the proper coverage for Chiropractic procedures from that insurance company.

What is an Adjustment?

A Chiropractic Adjustment is a specific force applied to the spine by a trained professional with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree and license. This force will move that particular segment in the spine to it's proper position. This allows the nervous system to communicate properly with the rest of the body. This proper communication is how the body expresses true health. It also allows the muscles in that area of the spine to be free from added tension and increased inflammation so that the patient will feel relief from the discomfort caused by this Subluxation. There can be a "popping" or "cracking" noise heard with the adjustment or there may not be either way the adjustment if delivered properly will be effective

Do I have to keep coming?

Many people have hear that once you go to a Chiropractor you have to go forever! Well this is partially true. Chiropractic is a lot like working out or playing the guitar, whatever you put into it you will get back out on the other side. In other words if you set a goal at the gym and you reach it and immediately stop going, as soon as you stop you will rapidly begin to loose your goal milestone and go back to square one. Chiropractic is just like this. As long as we give it the time we need to see what your body needs and we stay to that schedule whether it be once a week or once a year the patient will continue to enjoy the benefits. I also say on the other side of the coin we are all adults and you don't HAVE to do anything that you don't feel is a good investment of your time and money.

Will I be hurt or sore?

It is our primary goal at Northern Star Chiropractic to make the patient as comfortable as possible after the Adjustment. However given the nature of the procedure, different body types and pain tolerances there may be some discomfort observed after the Adjustment. If there is first off please let Dr. Brian know so he can modify the way he delivers the treatments. Second we always recommend to ICE the area NEVER use heat it can make the problem worse after the initial relief period.
